DAY 3: NAZCA – AREQUIPA
After continental
breakfast we take a flight in light aircraft over the famous
NAZCA LINES.
We then continue our
route, taking the highway to the city of AREQUIPA, where we
spend the might at our hotel.
DAY 4: AREQUIPA
After breakfast, we see
amongst other attractions; the main square, the cathedral,
the convent of SANTA CATALINA (Which is in fact a cited
within the city itself).
He afternoon is free time in which
you can enjoy the sights and sounds af this important
colonial city. Night at hotel.
DAY 5: AREQUIPA / CUSCO
(INTERNAL FLIGHT)
Breakfast, then we
transfer to the airport where we take our flight to the city
of Cusco, in the afternoon we tour the city where we see the
Main Square (which was also the main square in inka times,
with constructions built for eternity in worked stone) the
KORICANCHA (or Temple of the Sun) and other famous inka
imperial monuments, not to mention the inka streets and the
typical neighbourhood of SAN BLAS with its inka/Spanish
architecture we spend the night in our hotel in central
CUSCO.
DAY 6: CUZCO/MACHU
PICCHU/CUZCO
After breakfast, we dedicate the whole day to visit the
world famous citadel of Machu Picchu. In the morning we
transfer from the hotel to the railway station. There we
board the train which takes us through the beautiful Andean
scenery of the Inca Sacred Valley. In route we can
appreciate the diverse vegetation which is a marvel for all
lovers of nature. We leave the train at AGUAS CALIENTES to
board the coach which takes us to the citadel. There we take
a step-by-step tour in the company of a specialized tour
guide (Machu Picchu is considered Peru’s greatest tourist
attraction). At the end of our visit we return to the city
of CUZCO, where we spend the night.
DAY 7: CUZCO/SACRED
VALLEY/CUZCO
After breakfast, we
visit the most colourful traditional market in Peru, PISAQ,
where we can appreciate everything from the exotic fruits
and vegetables to the fine PISAQ arts and crafts. We then
visit the Sacred Valley of the Inkas (Known as having one of
the best climates in all Peru an beautiful scenery
surrounded by the immense peaks of the Peruvian Andes).
We then travel to the
beautiful Inka city of OLLANTAYTAMBO, or the fortress of
Captain Ollanta (an important city of the Inkas resistance
against the Spanish Conquistadores). We then return to our
hotel in Cuzco.
DAY 8: CUZCO – PUNO
After breakfast we
leave for lake TITIKAKA, passing through the Cuzco Valley,
we have a route we visit the archeological complex of PUKARA,
one of the oldest sites in the high plains region dating to
200 bc. After the visit, we head for Puno, folklore capital
of Peru. Dinner is served at our City center hotel.
DAY 9: PUNO – UROS –
TAQUILE
After breakfast, we
dedicate the day to the discovery of the celebrated lake
TITIKAKA, wich offers some of the richest scenary in Peru
being situated in the “altiplano” high plains, region that
extends between Peru and Bolivia. In the morning we board
our boat and first visit the famous floating islands of the
Uros (an enigmatic people who live on TITIKAKA) we then
continue our boat journey to the island of taquile Tis
island 3 hours from Puno buit far from the modern world is
very popular with both Peruvian and foreign visitors due to
the ancient traditions and way of life that the taquile
people preserve (The islands was self-governed for many
years) and their fine hand woven textiles. We have lunch in
the house of a Taquile resident, then in the afternoon visit
the main town, Its craft market and museum all the time
enjoying the scenery of this unique; land, dinner and
lodgings is in the home of a taquile family.
DAY 10: TAQUILE-PUNO
After continental
breakfast, we visit the island’s sacred mount “El Mulusina”
traveling on foot via the island pathways to see both
archeological remains and the beautiful scenary. After a
typical island lunch. We return by boat to our hotel in the
city of Puno.
DAY 11: PUNO / JULIACA
/ /LIMA
After breakfast, we
visit the necropolis of Sillustani where we discover the
“Chulpas” or burial towers of Atuncolla.
Atuncolla was the
capital of the preinca Kolla culture that inhabited the
coastal region of lake TITIKAK.
We then travel Manco Capac
sirport in the nearby city of Juliaca to take our flight to
the city of lima.
We spend the night in our hotel in the
capital city of Peru.
DAY 12: LIMA
After breakfast, we
tour the city of Lima which includes: The main square, the
cathedral, the archeological, museum, the museum which best
explains the different eras in the history of Peru,
residential neightbourhoods and the famous museum of the
inquisition. We then transfer to Jorge Chavez International
Airport to board your return flight. Night on board.
