DAY 1: LIMA

DAY 2: COLONIAL LIMA / PARACAS

 

In the morning, we’ll have a guided tour through Lima landmarks and attractions, the "City of Kings". The tour includes visit to the Historic Center of Lima, panoramic view of the Plaza San Martín, Plaza Mayor, Government Palace, Cathedral, Archbishop Palace, City Hall, Church of Santo Domingo, where the tombs of Santa Rosa and San Martin de Porres (popular peruvian saints) are located, Colonial Lima and balconies. After visiting the convent and Church of San Francisco, the greatest monumental Colonial Art in the Americas and a Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The tour includes a visit to the Basilica of 21 altars, convent cloisters and halls capitulate and clementina, choir and library monks, the site museum which displays 11 paintings by Rubens school, the Sacristy with paintings by Rivera and Surber, large courtyard decorated with tiles from Sevilla sixteenth century, Moorish arches and underground catacombs. Then we’ll visit the residential districts of San Isidro and Miraflores, passing through the Huaca Pucllana, Ceremonial Center and Administrative, built in the second century AD and considered by the Incas as Ñaupallaqta, "Holy People"; El Olivar de San Isidro Park, with olive trees brought from Spain in the fifteenth century; Miraflores Central Park and Larcomar, tourism and entertainment center, a symbol of modern Lima and a privileged viewing point to have an spectacular panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon, for an excellent introduction to Peru's past, visit the Museo Larco Herrera, considered the museum with the largest private collection of Peruvian pre-Columbian art. This exhibit shows examples of textiles, one of whom has world record: 398 threads per inch linear, and tools used by ancient Peruvians for working with ceramic and metal. It also has a collection of ceramics, gold and silver with semiprecious stones belonging to different cultures Pre-Inca and Inca of Peru. Return to your hotel in Lima. Transfer to Paracas. DAY 3: BALLESTAS ISLAND/ NAZCA

 

Early start towards the Bay of Chaco to board our boat and enjoy the attractions offered to us at Las Islas Ballestas as it is the Candelabrum, a diversity of birds, sea lions, etc.. We will continue to travel in a tourist transport to the city of Nazca, where we’ll overflight the Nazca Lines and observe some of the gigantic figures engraved on the sand. Transfer to your hotel. Overnight.

DAY 4: NAZCA/ AREQUIPA / MUMMY JUANITA


Arrival at Arequipa. In the afternoon we will visit the museum Andean shrines, there is a special frozen chamber inside the Lady of Ampato or Momia Juanita (Juanita’s Mummy) remarkably preserved, there you may see a video of how it was and where she was discovered and what rituals were developed in those days, The visit is guided. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight.

DAY 5: AREQUIPA / VALLE OF MAJES / COTAHUASI CANYON

Very early at 5:00 a.m. we’ll start to pick up participants from their hotel accommodations and travel in private vehicles by the South Panamerican highway directed towards the Valley of Majes via Corire and Aplao, great natural beauty to Arma, a kind of inn where fried trout is often served for lunch, then explore the foothills arriving at Cotahuasi. Reception, dinner and rest in a hostel.

DAY 6: COTAHUASI / TOMEPAMPA / LUICHO

 
Early start to visit the people of Cotahuasi (2684msnm) the narrow streets are well paved and houses along have a very clear Spanish influence. The road continued in the bottom of the canyon along the river, trees with extensive branches spread there scents to the four winds, it soon becomes Tomepampa with its remarkable colonial church, later a small suspended bridge over the river will lead us to Visbe Cotahuasi Taurisma, but along the road this will bring us to Alca (40m. Cotahuasi) and close to the thermal springs of LUICHO (2 kms). Overnight in camp.

 

 

DAY 7: LUICHO / SIPIA WATERFALLS/ COTAHUASI

 

After an early breakfast and using the most common local transportation (horses), we’ll head towards the giant SIPIA waterfalls three hours on horseback where the Cotahuasi river flows and rushes from a 50 meter altitude originating a permanent rainbow. Return to the Cotahuasi village. Overnight in your hostel.


DAY 8: COTAHUASI / TORO MUERTO / AREQUIPA


Before returning to the white city, we are going to the enchanted castles of Majes were we will here the voice of mythologic nymph Eco, and the enigmatic petrogliphs of Toro Muerto. Arrival at Arequipa. Overnight.

DAY 9: CITY TOUR AND COUNTRYSIDE / CHIVAY (9:00 AM) (HALD DAY)


Visit the Santa Catalina Monastery, The Cathedral and Plaza de Armas, the Colonial district of Yanahuara, the Church and Mirador, Mirador del Carmen high viewpoint of the countryside and Misti volcano, Chachani and Pichu Pichu whitepeaks, typical pre-Inca terraces still cultivated, and Chilina Valley, Sabandía mill and the Paucarpata neighborhood.

Arequipa / Chivay: the ride takes 4 hours on a paved road. Behind the snowy Chachani, pampa cañahua, the Aguada Blanca national reserve, Vicuñas in the wild, typical high andean landscape, typical andean grass (ichu), shrubs such as Tola, Ccapo or Yareta. Pampa de Tocra. Bofedales, some small ponds, birds such as the Kara-Kara, andean hawk, Black Ibis, or Guallatas an andean geese, ducks, some flamingos, vizcachas (wild rabbit). Continuing along the route Patapampa, Mirador de los Volcanes, Altitude 4.800 metres viewpoint of the whitepeaks Ampato, Sabancaya, Hualca Hualca). Mirador del Valle Del Colca. Arrive to Chivay. Transfer to Hotel.

DAY 10: CHIVAY / CRUZ DEL CONDOR / AREQUIPA

 
Early morning at 06:30am. We’ll start through the left Colca river bank until Mirador de la Cruz del Condor, depth 1200 m approx. The majestic flight of the Condor, visiting the typical villages of Yanque and Maca. Stone mock up", pre Inca tombs pendants, beautiful costumes of each village, the incredible number of Inca terraces still cultivated with crops such as the andean potatos, corn, quinua. Return to Arequipa City. Overnight in the Hotel.

DAY 11: AREQUIPA/ PUNO


Trip to Puno, with a brief visit to the Chullpas of Sillustani where we’ll appreciate the Chullpas surrounded by a beautiful landscape, then we’ll continue with our trip to Puno. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight.

DAY 12: PUNO/ UROS / AMANTANI

 

DEPARTURES: 8:00 to 8:30
RETURN : 16:00 next day


We will pick you up at approximately 07:40am. And transfer you to Puno’s harbor.
We’ll be departing on a boat at 08:30am. Heading towards the Uros islands were we’ll appreciate the Lake Titicaca national reserve, an excelent place to observe wild animals in their natural environment. Of the 30 floating islands we’ll visit two that are assembled with totora (a local water plant). After a nice ride we’ll navigate to the Island of the same name Amantani to which we’ll arrive after three hours of navigation approximately at 1300 hours, once we arrive the group will be divided in small groups to settle in the local family houses where they’ll stay for the night and enjoy the lodge, lunch, dinner and breakfast on the next morning. Approximately at 1500 hours we’ll walk climbing towards the mountain top (4150meters) to visit the Pachatata Temple (Temple of the Father), The music and the meals are prepared in a typical fashion by the designated families.
 


DAY 13: AMANTANI / TAQUILE/ PUNO

 

Breakfast. Departing from the Amantani Island at 0900 towards the Taquile Island we’ll have a boat ride for about one hour. In this Island are the best knitters of ancient Perú. In this place you will appreciate an intact Inca community as it was in the past centuries, we’ll walk to the higher area of the Island for around 30 minutes to arrive to the center of the Island where we’ll stay for 3 hours and learn something more about this impressive place and have lunch, afterwards we’ll go back down on a 500 steps stairs.

We will be departing at 1300 hours to arrive to Puno’s harbor at 1600 hours. Transfer to your hotel. Overnight.

DAY 14: PUNO / CUSCO


Transfer to Puno city in a tourist transport The trip will last about 8 hours. On the way we’ll visit some places of interest like La Raya, Pucara, Raqchi and Andahuaylillas. Arrival to Cusco. Transfer at Hotel. Overnight.

DAY 15: CITY TOUR AND COUNTRYSIDE (09:00 AM) (HALD DAY)

 

We going to visit the following archaeological and religious attractions:
The Cathedral.- Colonial religious monument with an extraordinary artistic value.
Koricancha.- Religious Inca center best known as the “Temple of the Sun” stands out the impressive engineering used in this building.
Sacsayhuaman.- Located at 3 Kms. from Cusco city is an impressive fortress of monumental stones and excelent architecture.
Qenqo.- Ceremonial and ritual center where sacrificas were performed.
PucaPucara.- Old “Tambo” surveillance post used along all Inka trails.
Tambomachay.- At 7 Km. From Cusco city, ceremonial center to worship the water best known as the place of the waters.

DAY 16: SACRED VALLEY (FULL DAY)


This day we’ll visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas starting with Pisaq ruins the indian market and the local church. Afterwards we will pass through Lamay and Calca villages, arriving at Urubamba where we’ll stop for lunch.

After lunch we will continue with our trip to Ollantaytambo where you will appreciate the village typical streets, and will visit the impressive archaeological complex, its terraces and enjoy the wonderful view of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Afterwards we’ll head towards to the village of Chinchero, so rich in culture and archaeology like Pisaq and Ollantaytambo.
In this place we´ll can see how the people stained and woven garments. Return to Cusco city and Overnight.

DAY 17: CUSCO / MANU


Very early in the morning departure from Cusco in one of our vehicles especially equiped for this trip. Will pass through interesting communities and andean valleys. At mid morning we’ll visit the Pre Inca tombs of Ninamarca better known as Chullpas then we’ll head to Paucartambo, typical colonial village of great importante in those days and that still preserves its flavor. Continuing with our trip we’ll climb to the Acjanacu pass at 3850 m.a.s.l. From this place we will start our descend through the cloud forest, a very rich area in species like the Bear with glasses, the rooster of the rocks, orchids, ferns, etc. Once in San Pedro we will visit the place where the rooster of the rocks gathers every morning and at noon to make interesting courtship dances. Then we will continue our trip until we arrive to Pilcopata where we will have our first night.


DAY 18: MANU


After breakfast we’ll continue our bus trip across the high jungle arriving to the Atalaya quay, located at the high Madre de Dios river bank at 700msnm. From this place we will start our descend along the river in a outboard engine boat. In the river banks we will be able to observe a wide variety of birds species like herons, vultures, pelikans, etc. After a few hours we’ll arrive to Aguas Calientes were we will have the chance to take a nice hot bath. Past 1500 hours we’ll arrive to our lodge, settle there, have water supply and then start a hike of about one hour average and have the possibility to observe the impressive Tapirs in a salt lick, after this we will return to our lodge and enjoy our delicious dinner.
Optional: This night is posible to stay overnight in a platform the middle of the jungle to wait for Tapirs to come over, if we can’t see them until 8pm.

DAY 19: MANU


During the morning we’ll continue our trip aboard our boat down the river, after a few hours we’ll arrive to the Boca Manu village, we will make a stop here and then get to La Cocha de los Valles (Lake of the Valley), where we’ll board a catamaran to seek birds and fish piranhas, we will return to the village were we can buy some beers, continuing with our trip we will arrive to the Blanquillo private reservation where we will settle for the night in our comfortable lodge.

DAY 20: MANU


Very early before breakfast using a camouflage hideout just in front of the Macaw claylick, a clay wall close to the river where different species of macaws and parrots land every morning to extract minerals necesary for there dietetic balance.
Parakeets, amazon parrots, parrots with blue head, will start an unforgettable wild life colorful sight and finally the fabulous macaws. Ending this everyday activity we’ll return to our campsite.

During the afternoon we’ll have a walk arriving to Cocha Camungo (Lake Camungo), where we will find a 42 mts. metal tower from where we can appreciate the lake’s surface.

At the lake shore we’ll board the catamaran for a ride paddling on the lake, past the day the guide will make an introduction to the caimans afterwards proceed to identify them and if posible capture one. Once in the campsite we will have deserved rest.


DAY 21: MANU / CUSCO


After breakfast we’ll start the trip back up the river, once in Boca Manu we will board the plane for the flight back to Cusco, this flight will take two hours.

Early pick up and transfer to the train station. The trip will last about 4 hours. Arrival to Aguas Calientes. Hotel check in. Day free for different activities like a visit to the Aguas Calientes museum or enjoy a bath in the hot springs. Lunch. Overnight.

NOTE.- Entrance fee to the hot springs and museum are not included.


DAY 23: AGUAS CALIENTES / MACHUPICCHU / AGUAS CALIENTES / CUSCO


This day we will climb in a bus to the Machupicchu citadel for our day tour and visit its main places, temples, shrines, premises and stairs that connect the different levels where all the buildings are. Return to Aguas Calientes for lunch and to board our train up to Ollantaytambo where a bus will be waiting for us to return to Cusco city in less time.
